# How to use Dave, the AI analyst

> Ask Dave to build, research and explain, in plain language.

Dave works on the same decision you see on the left. He sits on the right of the screen, and on the Results page folds into a thin **AI agent** rail you can click to reopen.

## Start a conversation

A new conversation shows a seven-step path (starting with **Frame the decision**) and starter buttons such as "Help me frame this decision". A selector under his name chooses the thinking mode, for example "Pro: slower, reasons more deeply".

## What to ask

* "Set up a model for whether to expand into region X."
* "Research a range for churn after a price rise."
* "Why does option B win?"
* "Set the win rule: must beat the baseline on NPV and meet two other objectives."

## What Dave can do

* Build and edit the model
* Run research and write evidence notes
* Set the win rule
* Explain results

## What to know

>
> Changes to a model that you did not request are **proposals** for you to accept or decline. Nothing changes silently.

* Dave's numbers always come from the engine, never from guesswork.
* He labels any AI assumption as one.
